8MM, SUPER-8 AND 16MM MOVIE FILM TRANSFERS
SEE ALSO:
Home movie film has been around almost as long as the film medium itself. From the 1920s until it was largely replaced by videotape in the 1980s, movie film has provided a way for families as well as businesses and organizations to document their respective histories. Unlike magnetic tape, which typically has a limited lifespan of only a few decades, movie film continues to be viable for transfer even after generations have gone by. However, it will not last foerver, and a digital transfer is the best way to preserve those contents for years to come.
"I just want to say 'thank you' so much for the wonderful job you did putting our family films onto DVD! We haven't shown them to my parents yet, but I took a peak at the DVD the day I received it, and it brought tears to my eyes. The music really adds a nice feel to the viewing experience." - Donna N.

All transfers are done in high definition. Files are then converted to MP4 for digital delivery or downconverted to standard definition files for DVDs. Unlike video tapes which can hold several hours worth of content, most film reels are relatively short, so multiple reels can be combined onto a single DVD disc or thumb drive. For more information on reel sizes and run times, refer to the chart at the bottom of this page. We can transfer most types of formats including:
THE TRANSFER PROCESS
All film brought to us is examined and organized prior to transfer and any film breaks are repaired as needed. We use professionally designed telecine equipment with high definition camera systems for stunning, flicker-free transfers. We then apply color, brightness, and contrast correction. If the original reels are silent (as they are in many cases) and the customer requests a DVD, we also add a music soundtrack. Once completed, files are rendered to either MPEG-2 (for DVDs) and MP4 (for Blu-ray or standalone files). All original reels are returned to the customer along with their new digital media.
ADDITIONAL COPIES
Once films are converted, extra copies are a snap! We have several types of disc duplicators than can run off anywhere from a single copy to hundreds more. We can also make additional copies of MP4 files onto multiple USB thumb drives.
CUSTOM EDITING
Once you have viewed your transferred film, you may want to add, delete, or rearrange content to make it more watchable in the future. Through a very simple process you can log all of your changes in the comfort of your own home, then provide us with the information and we can revitalize your videos by adding music, narration, color correction, titles, and special effects.
